Selenium benefits and potassium benefits

Author: admin

Your knowledge about selenium probably ends with it simply being an element in the periodic table. However, there are actually various selenium benefits your body can get from this trace element. Selenium is an effective anti-oxidant so the toxins in your body can be eliminated. This element is an essential part of the antioxidant enzymes that flush the free radicals out the human system. Selenium can also be beneficial for the immune system and thyroid gland. Selenium can be found in fruits and vegetables and some meat products and sea foods contain this. Plants that are grown in rich soil often have higher levels of the said element. And it is not only selenium which brings forth its benefits. Another element is what we know as the K in the periodic table and that is potassium. Potassium benefits include your body’s increased capacity to fight diseases and recover from an injury. Potassium is an abundant mineral found in the human body and it is one of the substances responsible for the maintenance of sound mental and physical health. This element also serves as an electrolyte. Electrolytes are lost in the body when you perspire or when you drink coffee, juice or beer in a regular basis. Potassium can also help in the preventing the formation of kidney stones. Banana, pecan spinach, sunflower seeds, spinach and almonds are rich sources of potassium. If your body lack potassium, you are prone to irritability and fatigue.
